The Other South Minneapolis Stucco Project on the Same Block
Last fall, we completed two stucco projects on the same block in south Minneapolis, just a few blocks away from the Mississippi River. This project was for a contractor that we have worked for for decades (before we relocated to Northeast Minneapolis, our shop was next to theirs on Nicollet Avenue). The contractor built a new entryway on the front of the house, and installed new windows on the front and sides of the home. They tore all of the stucco off of the front of the house, so we had to install new stucco to the front elevation. On the sides, they removed the stucco just around the new windows, and we also replaced the old siding in the gables with stucco. Once the repairs were completed, and the contractor had installed the new stone steps, we refinished the stucco on the three sides of the house. The new entry, combined with the new windows and stucco, makes the home much more usable and efficient, while beautifully updating the appearance of this stucco home on an established South Minneapolis block....

One of the South Minneapolis Stucco Projects on the Same Block
Last fall, we completed two stucco projects on the same block in south Minneapolis, just a few blocks away from the Mississippi River. The homeowners of this project contacted us for a general refreshing of their home. The home was totally covered in vines…they had let them go and eventually they completely covered the house. The vines had even started growing into the windows and soffit trim! So, the first step was to remove the vines. We removed all of the branches a few weeks prior to the refinishing of the stucco, so that the remnants of the vines on the walls would die. We could then use a torch to burn the feelers and smaller parts of the vines off. We then clean the walls using a wire brush, to ensure that the new stucco would adhere properly to the existing stucco. We also had to complete numerous repairs to the stucco, including some areas on the rear of the home and along the sidewalks. The homeowners also chose to have their walls insulated prior to the stucco projects. In order to insulate the stucco walls, the contractor drills holes through the stucco in order to blow the new insulation into the wall cavities. We then need to patch the holes, making sure they are level with the existing walls so that the patches blend seamlessly into the old stucco. After the vines were removed and the stucco repairs had dried and cured, we...

South Minneapolis Stucco Project
The homeowners of this home in Hale neighborhood of Minneapolis contacted us for a free estimate to repair and refinish the stucco on their house. Nothing had been done to the stucco in almost 80 years, as the stucco was original from when the home was built. The stucco was still in pretty good condition…which definitely speaks to the durability of stucco! The homes in this Minneapolis neighborhood were built in the 1920’s and earlier, with many of them having the original stucco on their exteriors. Stucco is made to last fifty years and more, and often the stucco can be refinished after a few minor repairs to make the homes look brand new again! This project required a few repairs before the stucco could be refinished. We repaired some larger cracks, a couple of areas on the foundation, and an area of stucco above the garage on the rear of the home. Once the stucco was repaired, and the patches had time to dry and cure, we returned to apply the finish coats. We used the stucco color Parchment, using a Pebble Dash texture. This classic South Minneapolis home looked brand new after the stucco was completed, and will be the envy of the rest of the stucco homes on their block!...
